WIIIDEE, MID, clOse shots
20th Sept'25
Shoot 12
WIIIIIDEEEE, MID, clOse SHOTS
In this assignment, we were assigned to take picture different compositions based on the distance of the subject to the camera, like wide shot capture the surroundings of the subject, mid shot captures the part of the subject and the activity they're indulged in and close shot captures the mood or emotion evoked on the subject's face while in an activity.
WIIIDEE Shot capturing the surrounding of the subject showing the place where the activity has taken place what else is around him
MID shot capturing him and the activity he is doing, conveys what exactly he is doing and how the focus has shifted from his surrounding to the work.
and now for the close shot it shows the expression and his mood while working, it does not focus on the environment or the activity but the subject himself and how he settles in that environment doing a particular activity.
Observations
i observed how we perceive an image based on the type of shot it is, like in wide shot you'll focus on the environment where he at and assume what work he is doing, it still conveys a message without words, like in mid shot too how you will now focus on the activity and how is engaged in the work and for the close shot you will focus on his face and overall body language while working.
Learning
i learnt how different types of shots requires you to experiment around with the angles and not keep a monotonous form of composition where it might get boring for the viewer since there is no dynamism but zoom in all three shots, i remember how i took my first 3shots in the same way and how boring it turned to be, since the subject and the activity felt to stiff.
Other Shots!
this is where i was done with the assignment but i still wanted capture the same subject and thee activity from different perspectives and also playing a little with the focus points and trying out other compositions as well, also continuing to the next the assignment.
i really wanted to put this in the close shot since it captures that body language and the expression that i was looking for but it had to closer than that to be put up in close shot, maybe mid shot? but again the emphasis on the activity is somewhat minimal compared to his facial expressions
the above two images fits really good in mid shot since activity is emphasised in both but the overall lighting and shadows are somewhat off compared to the one ive put up in MID SHOT
expressions are emphasised along with the sheer detailing capturing the sweat and the expression while he works
tried to experiment a bit with the focus points (foreground, midground and background)
